Valerie Simon, LCSW, TEP, creator of The Inner Stage™, uniquely blends her entertainment industry background with her expertise as a creative arts therapist and certified Trainer, Educator & Practitioner of psychodrama.
Valerie graduated with honors from NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a BFA in Film/Television production and has worked in various aspects of the industry. Valerie worked in production and post-production on feature films and television movies. She also read scripts at Ron Howard’s Imagine Entertainment and was the coordinator at Jim Henson’s world famous Muppet Workshop.
After receiving an MSW at NYU School of Social Work, Valerie began extensive training in psychodrama and has received the highest certification as a Trainer, Educator & Practitioner. She also has worked in a variety of psychological settings including hospitals, addictions facilities, public schools, and mental health clinics. Valerie provided services to those affected by September 11th through Project Liberty, and she also aided Gulf Coast musicians after Hurricane Katrina through her work at the Jazz Foundation of America.

Valerie has had a private practice in Manhattan for almost two decades. Valerie combines her creative arts background with her certification as a Trainer, Educator & Practitioner and in psychodrama. She has expertise in healing trauma and addiction, and is personally well-versed in recovery terminology. Valerie sees individual clients who are looking to resolve traumas in order to become more spontaneous and creative in their lives. Valerie runs intensive weekend counseling sessions for those who want to jump start their healing. She is available distance counseling via Skype™ or FaceTime™ sessions.
Valerie runs a monthly female and female-identified recovery creative arts/psychodrama group and a bi-monthly creative arts/psychodrama group for people with all gender identities. Valerie leads psychodrama retreats and intensives.
Valerie also facilitates a bi-monthly and a monthly psychodrama training group for professionals interested in learning about the methodology of this powerful experiential therapy. She also runs weekend intensive trainings for professionals.

Rebecca Shubert, LMSW holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Education Studies from Vassar College and an Master of Social Work (MSW) from New York University. Her areas of focus include multicultural and identity issues, non-traditional relationship structures, trauma, anxiety, depression, and LGBTQ issues (with particular focus on transgender and gender non-conforming populations).
Her approach is eclectic and tailored to each client’s needs. She views therapy as a way to collaborate with clients to facilitate growth and healing, and believes that cultivating a strong working relationship is essential to good therapy.
Rebecca is currently a candidate at the Psychoanalytic Institute at New York Counseling and Guidance Services for the two-year certificate in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
